Wood is the
New Standard
in Luxury
WHY WOOD?
Wood is nature's perfect carbon composite, possessing an inherent ability to absorb and dampen vibration. Our hollow-core frames, constructed from select hard and softwoods, filter out road imperfections, resulting in a ride of unparalleled smoothness and compliance that does not compromise on durability.
The result is reduced rider fatigue, superior comfort on long rides, and a silent, gliding connection to the road.
Each frame is made in Austin Texas.
Master Craftsmanship meets
High-Precision Engineering
Our frames are not manufactured; they are crafted – demanding many hours of meticulous labor.
We pair exotic hardwoods, chosen for their beauty and impact resistance, with structural softwoods selected for their superior stiffness-to-weight ratio. These woods are joined and precisely carved on a CNC, then shaped and finished by hand with obsessive attention to detail.
The result is a hollow frame that captures the durability of hardwood and the featherlight responsiveness of spruce.
Our Story
Orion Bikes was born from the intersection of two lifelong pursuits—woodworking and long-distance cycling.
My standard has always been uncompromising. I am a perfectionist, driven by a constant search for ways to improve quality and achieve a flawless execution. This obsession with seamless joints, the perfect finish, the structural integrity—is the foundation of every frame that bears the Orion.
For me, the bicycle is my source of joy and my vehicle for adventure. I have pedaled thousands of miles on long tours, from the West Coast of the U.S. to the rugged, demanding terrain of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and Patagonia.
I know what it feels like to be on a bike for many hours at a time. This informed my decision to work with wood as a way to have a more comfortable ride.
My ultimate goal is to build something that inspires people to get out on the road, start a conversation, and experience the joy of cycling.
